Dehydration and nutritional imbalances can create a multitude of issues, including fatigue, headaches, muscle aches, and other discomforts that impede daily life. At The Skin Shop Medspa Scottsdale, we work with men and women in and throughout Scottsdale, AZ to help them achieve optimal energy and rejuvenation through IV nutrient therapy. Cyndie Nohr, BSN, RN and her team are qualified to administer IV nutrient therapy to individuals who need a boost in their overall health.

What is IV nutrient therapy?

IV nutrient therapy is a hydration method that is administered via intravenous injection to provide the body with a cocktail of vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes. IV nutrient therapy is a common practice that has been used for many years as an alternative or supplement to help the body achieve hydration. At The Skin Shop Medspa Scottsdale, Cyndie assesses your medical history and overall condition to determine if IV nutrient therapy would be safe and effective for you.

When is IV nutrient therapy needed?

Generally, most people can achieve hydration through traditional meal plans and sufficient caloric intake. When an individual’s body is unable to absorb nutrients via traditional eating and drinking, IV nutrient therapy helps restore the body’s need for essential vitamins and minerals quickly. IV nutrient therapy may also be needed if the body suffers from a sudden or prolonged depletion in nutrients due to illness.

What is IV nutrient therapy used to treat?

IV nutrient therapy can be used to treat numerous conditions, including:

  • Dehydration
  • Hangovers
  • Migraines
  • PMS symptoms
  • Muscles spasms
  • Post-workout recovery
  • Other illnesses

IV nutrient therapy may be utilized to boost the immune system and to improve someone’s overall well-being.

Ideal candidates for IV nutrient therapy

Both men and women may be viable candidates for IV nutrient therapy if they:

  • Can sustain intravenous needles with minimal risk for complications
  • Experience dehydration, exhaustion, or other symptoms related to nutritional deficits
  • Are recovering after a hangover, intense workout, or illness
  • Are unable to get sufficient nutrients from traditional meal plans

Cyndie will review each patient’s medical history to determine if they can safely participate in IV nutrient therapy. Patients who are at risk for health complications or who can’t tolerate needles may not be suitable candidates for treatment.

How the treatment process works

Each patient attends their scheduled appointment at The Skin Shop Medspa Scottsdale located in Scottsdale, AZ. The IV is injected into the vein that runs through the crease of the mid-arm. Patients report feeling mild discomfort or a stinging sensation while the needle is inserted into the skin, but generally experience little to no pain during the therapy session. Once the IV nutrient therapy session is complete, which usually takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes, patients are welcome to return home and to resume normal daily activities.

Are there any side effects from IV nutrient therapy?

During the IV nutrient therapy session, patients may experience some light-headedness. Intravenous treatments of any kind may lead to complications and rare side effects from IV nutrient therapy may include:

  • Rash, bruising, or infection at the injection site
  • Inflammation at the injection site
  • Vitamin overdose

Any adverse side effects should be reported to Cyndie or any member of our team right away.

How often should I participate in IV nutrient therapy?

The number of IV nutrient therapy sessions recommended depends on the patient, their medical history, their dietary intake, and their medical physician’s recommendations. For many patients, one session every two weeks is sufficient enough for hydration and rejuvenation. Consult with Cyndie about what to expect for your unique IV nutrient therapy schedule.
